Learn how to prepare your landscape to survive the harsh winter weather.

November is officially here which means temperatures will start to drop causing you to prepare your home for winter.  It is critical that you start taking care of your landscape now before snowfall covers your lawn.  No one wants to see their grass and gardens damaged once spring comes around.  There are a few simple ways to prepare your landscape so you and your family can enjoy the various features throughout the year.

Clear Your Lawn

It is critical that your lawn and landscape it clear of all items, such as lawn furniture or toys, once winter comes around.  The last thing you want is a winter snowstorm damaging all of your lawn furniture you invested in for landscape.  Before winter is officially here, go around your landscape and take in any items that are unnecessary in the wintertime.  Any object that you leave on your lawn during the winter can create dead spots on your grass.

Fertilize Before The First Snowfall

Every homeowner wants their grass to be healthy throughout the winter and into springtime when they will spend more time on their landscape again.  It is critical that you prepare your lawn for winter by giving it fertilizer before the first snowfall.  The fertilizer will remain in your soil during the winter and continue to feed the roots into spring.  When spring gets here, you have full healthy grass that your whole family can enjoy.

Avoid Excessive Traffic

During the wintertime, you want to avoid your family and guests from walking on to your lawn and damaging your grass.  With your grass wet during the winter, it is for excessive foot traffic to wear it out and potentially kill certain areas of your lawn.  Make sure to keep your walkways around your property clear of snow so anyone can travel around your home without damaging your grass.
